Who Kevin is:
Kevin of Percy Concrete and Design Inc. has been installing decorative concrete since 1994. He has been a member of the American Society of Concrete Contractors and Decorative Concrete Councils since 2001. Currently he sits on the Board of Directors, and has seminars and demonstrations as a featured instructor for the D.C.C. He was also on Extreme Make Over Home Edition in 2006.
We met Kevin in person for the first time at the ASCC conference in North Carolina on September 14 2007. He was doing a training demonstration for Brickform at the ASCC Decorative concrete demos.
This video was recorded outside of the conference room during the ASCC reception.
He has owned Deco-Con Software for 2 years, and uses it on 90% of his proposals. He says he closes 70% of his jobs when he shows them a computer rendering made with Deco-con.

“A lot of times they will e-mail us a photo of their project and we will in turn do your Depiction Software and show them a rendered drawing. E-mail it back to them, and then a lot of times we’ll land the job because of the fact that we have the capabilities of doing something like that. So we are like I said before 70% and that is pretty good considering all the competition that surrounds us.
And the software works so, to me if you ask me I think that anybody that is a contractor in this business should have the program because it is going to put you so far ahead of the competition nobody is going to be able to touch you, because it gives you just a little bit more of an edge, and that is what we need in this business is an edge. “I just wanted to write and tell how much I love these new programs. If there are any contractors out there that want to move their business to the next level these programs will do it. The new imaging software I bought at "World of Concrete" this year is amazing . When I started doing decorative concrete 3 years ago all I had were some pictures and reference books to show clients and I was lucky to get 1 out of 5 jobs. Once I started using the imaging software not only did I feel much more confident on job walks but I was able to average 3 out of 5 jobs. Now when I go to my walks, I take a photo of the project, download it to my laptop and have the clients browse through the sample books while I work on the image of their project. As they discuss what they like I can change the image to fit their wishes and by the time they have finished the books I have a photo of their project.”
“The estimator program has been just as helpful. The initial setup takes a few hours to input your job and product info but once you have the basics done the rest is easy. I have been on a walk and as I was writing up the estimate I noticed there was some info I missed. With a few taps of the mouse I was able to update my products and return right back where I left of to finish the estimate. The latest version now allows me to email the estimate to my client right from the program. Usually I do this before I leave or as I am sitting in my truck. Just this "email" upgrade has made my life so much easier because now I don't have to go home and work all night writing estimates and hoping the clients received them OK.
Last, I have to say that the tech support from Depiction is awesome. I am a computer "IDIOT" yet somehow I find that these programs and the support staff have made me feel like some kind of "I.T." guy.” |

It used to take my company's estimator 20 minutes to calculate the required pavers, base rock, and sand to complete an estimate for our contractor customers. What took him 20 minutes now takes only 3 minutes. He has gone from 100 estimates in a week to completing them all in one day. The Estimator software paid for itself in the first 2 weeks. I think this was the best product that I bought for my company, compared to what other people are doing. If I make a presentation mine looks professional.
